I wasn't game to play around internally with the standard box, and a low km scorpion box and shaft cost $50 from the wreckers. The steering nuckle on the steering shaft was stuffed on my car due to driving with dead power steering so it needed replacing anyway, and imo. manual box is neater, and you...

Sounds like a fuel problem to me, maybe only one injector working or bad connectors. But since you've changed distributor and plugs I'd also check static timing, and firing order, aka right plug wires onto the correct plug. basically check the simple things first.

I'd suspect the isolator but the tach should have worked straight off the coil as you bypassed it. Just be careful running without the isolator as I believe it's there to protect the tacho. The problem could also lie in your distributor. If it is supplying a poor signal to the coil then it may affec...

LOL I've had the same thing happen with a sonata setup, there are two sensors around the thermostat area and I plugged into the wrong one. One's a temp sender the others a temp on/off. Look around the thermostat area for sensors and go from there. The signal wire in the engine bay is a thin yellow w...

This part here acts as an isolator to pass the coil pulses to the tacho display in car. I know that if it's disconnected there is no tach reading. Hope this helps :beer

Steering is great. A little bit heavier than stock, but I prefer it like that. It also depends on your front tyre width, and steering wheel size. I run a 35cm wheel and 215 tyres. Also the shafts are identical, weld for weld, except for length.

Manual Steering Box Conversion

MANUAL STEERING CONVERSION This is a DIY for anyone considering removing their power steering in favour of a manual steering box. I've done this mod in a couple of starions due to leaks and pump failure but also to free up real estate in front of the turbo and intercooler areas. Also I fid the stoc...

Balance Shaft has had the counter weights turned off, best way to do it in my opinion. The other balance shaft can be left in but If you already have the engine apart I'd remove it and turn the bearing shells around to block the oil feed, slide hammer should pull that siezed shaft out sweet. :beer

I'd say your speedometer assembly is kaput. Remove your speedo and test with an electric drill at low rpm and if it shoots up to the 240km stop, then it's junk. :(

As noted he only did very little prepwork, and for the time/money spent I think it turned out ok, it goes to show the potential of this method of painting. I believe with better prep and wet sanding the results could have been much better. I've seen a few home spray jobs come out much worse than this.

As far as I know this part is common to a lot of the 4g63 sohc motors from that era, go to a local wreckers and have a look around, l300, sonata etc, will probably be in better condition also :beer

I have heard of using coiled rope fed into the cylinder through spark plug hole, then bring piston slowly up towards top dead center by hand. Then using a lever and a mate with a set of needle nose pliers you can remove the valve collets/springs, not that I'm trying to give you any ideas. btw I'd us...

Good info there, The turbo is probably a stock replacement as it's shoehorned in and everything stock bolts up to it properly, From what I've found this model/motor seems to be a bit of a black sheep with not much info anywhere, prob because it wasn't released in Aus. and any examples are imports. S...

Whoa whoa, don't ruin that new head gasket just yet. Does it blow smoke first thing in the morning, or when it's been sitting for a while hot? then probably valve stem seals, also do a compression test to determine ring condition and general engine condition. If it's still driveable then a mechanic ...
