Re: Many shades of Red (now one shade of Green)

I'm sure the Ralliart cars Ran 4.1 or 4.2 gears so thats bonus points too Probably no interest in life under 4000rpm either. There is magic in a "good" camshaft, allowing the sohc to 'pull' past 7500 With a top-heavy power delivery, a 4.2 would shine. Dunno how/if the stock 5spd would lik...

Re: Many shades of Red (now one shade of Green)

Excellent build thread!!!
You may hate life after a 4.22 diff ratio swap.
Double the torque on a sohc & stock 5spd.... put the clock on it = disappointing results. May 'feel' quicker... for the 1st few feet

Re: Many shades of Red

very cool build thread. Good job mitsu SOHC turbo motors, power almost always seem to hit a wall Suspects? : Stock exhaust manifold poor design 2.0 & 2.6 turbine wheel wastegate flow turbulence. A few say big difference from moded oe exh hsg: separate discarge tube/divorce plate valvesprings, ev...

Re: TOMSUN'S JB STARION - Updated 25.5.2014

This car is a fine template for what 'could' be done to a 2.0 sohc flatty staz. Heck of a job, Sir!

Camshaft swap wasn't single item back-to-back, but any thoughts on characteristics vs ?
Does the motor rev out & pull to 7000 rpm ?

I recall your build as one of my favourites, as I somehow always been a 2 valve man. I actually like its simplicity I had just picked up a truck 2.4 with intention of boosting it, when you posted yours. I seriously doubt you'd walk away disappointed if you fed a 2.4 sohc (with a good cam) what it wa...

after another look, the torque scale on the graph has to be off, seeing as hp and ft-lb of torque always equal to each other at 5252 rpm. A 16g would be making a lot more torque at the first point(3280 rpm) as well, so looks like a bigger turbo

what turbo were you running.... 16g ?
Dyno print says hp is 263.5, same as the graph shows
Dyno print says max ft-lb torque is 254, but the graph shows 354 ft-lb? which is more characteristic of a 2 valve motor(unless its really cammed up to the point it softens up the bottom end).

years ago I tore down a free 2.0 sohc stazz motor. The balance shaft had "wobbled around" in there to the point, where there was no rear bearing left nor the bore for the shell to sit in! Beat to just an irregular shaped hole. Could never understand how a motor can still operate to that po...

what caused your BS belts to fail ? ....not changing the belt, tensioner or worn bearings and shaft begining to bind up ? I've never eliminated balance shafts. The smoothness always amazed me.... part of the charm When shopping for a spare, any mitsu motor (2.0/2.6sohc or 2.0dohc) I viewed that had ...

Mitsu turbos r excellent top shelf performers and have most power craves covered, up to the 20g a 60 trim T3 is roughly on par with a 16g. The biggest advantage of the t3 is when/if you have the source of a low budget upgrade to a t3/t4(numerous sizes) GT series r hyped up and perform no better take...

that car mentioned running a ported stock manifold...... so probably a stock turbine housing machined out for a td06 wheel, especially since boost creep issues experienced, as is characteristic. Porting the wastegate entry helps, or play hard like this guy, and go divorced dump on the oe setup, to t...
