Personally, I find sloppy boxes very unsatisfying. I like them tight and taught to the point that if you dont have to push to get it in then its probably too old and time to get a new one
don't try explaining that to her tho..... just leave. lol

uz has been a popular swap in corollas for a few years.... even some tiny starlets. Was surprised to see a rolla guy claim uz was lighter than his sr20 swap. How can essentially two 2 litre motors (a 1uz) weigh the same as one 2 litre (sr20) ? ....and makes me wonder, why didn't/couldn't toyota make...

Also didn't "4g64b" use standard machined pistons and get 350whp exactly.... subjected to track use also. His was an excellent 64 build imo. Good tuning is mandatory, forged pistons aren't. I'd spend the money there. seen too many oem cast piston motors perform fine. For example; CA18 ~35...

heavy stock 2.6 flywheel weigh close to 16kg, believe it or not.
'lightened' to ~9.7kg is a very common mod in the US

I wouldn't bother with any fancy intake work. Look how many 2.6 SOHC on SQC gone over 500hp using oe magna intakes, without dramas. 2L sohc oe mpi intake manifold bottom half runners do have more of a 'curve' to them, than the magna tho. Dunno if that contributes to your dilema or how/if that hamper...

2g (evo 1-3) heads are useless when you compare them to the 1g (vr4/galant gsr) heads total rubbish. A pack of mitsus locally compete amongst themselves for the quickest on stock evoIII 16g & mitsu electronics, same weight. Some run 1st gen/VR4 head/or motors. They all 1/8th ET in the 7.5-7.9se...

G54 gets no love around here, maybe because equally moded it smokes the 2.0 sohc ;) Torque is unmatched, stand a better chance challenging with a 2.3/2.4 sohc. Dunno if either of the sohc or the twincam 4Gs proven as "good" drift powerplants tho. Is the starion a suitable platform ? If lon...

4.6 ratio belong behind gutess hi revving motors. 4Gs sohc or dohc have adequate torque
Often seen changes to shorter gears in street cars worsen ETs.

well... while there are "issues", the point is most 7-bolts don't fail. I believe the internet blows it out of proportion. You'll always hear of the failures, but nobody hardly mentions the successes. Any hi mileage virgin motor/oe ecu/oe 16g capable of consistent low 11sec 1/4 ETs in a fu...

I know a handful of evo123 owners who frequent the strip for Friday night brawls. They consistently 'push' these airconditioned daily drivers to 7.5-7.7sec 1/8th mile ETs! All with stock 7-bolt motors, mitsu ecu and evoIII 16g turbo. That is a ridiculously quick, reliable, full weight 4dr sedan for ...
