Good torque and capable of handling some boost and it all just seems 'there'. I can see why you USA guys wonder at our fascination with the Twin Cams when you can get so much torque/power out of a well thought out 2.6 set up. If I were on your side of the ocean I too wouldnt give a second thought t...

have you wiggled the fusible links and connections close to the battery ? That is where most electrical gremlins live. I've seen 'em hiding there often

anyone serious about building a 600hp sohc would have built a 300>400 hp one already, and carry on in incremental stages toward a target. You'd never see a post like this. Why bother? Look at the two samples in the recent MPI thread and ask them why. That Gem could very well be a street car. Very fe...

a handfull have modified their TBI manifold to mpi economically. Looks similar to that pic, One of the quickest u.s. 2.6 street starquests did so, with a $640 fuel-only ecu. Worked well. Ahem, MPI ? Seems like enough MPI options in these responses The other motor examples were only to show that a lo...

in all fairness, its *rumoured* that the 7sec 3T ran the crower 2.2L stroker crank and an expensive billet head tho. So technically (like the 7sec G54), that ain't no 3T or "g54" as far as I'm concerned I prefer sticking to reality..... meaning somethin us mere mortals might be capable of ...

bugger the shitty 3TC, get a 1.8L G180Z Isuzu up ya! 3Ts been in the 7s how many years now ? I've seen 3TCs street cars clean up at the friday night drags from way back in the mid 80s, and drive home. Typical & fine example here; http://i43.tinypic.com/hrzh8i.jpg http://i44.tinypic.com/5lvtqv.j...

funny to see in 'land of standalones & magnas', mpi is so freakin expensive u.s. starquests have sub $600 plug-n-play ecu, shipped with map. Read up on tuning, and tweak yourself... whenever you're ready Over your way, it seems hardly anyone ever bothers to "push" a SOHC, so DOHC is th...

I wouldn't spend a dime changing anything in any old mitsu motor either, I'd keep a composite head gasket. Just make sure balance shafts are spinning freely & their bearings look good, and check the rod bearings. I'd even stick to oe mitsu electronics, since lotsa folks achieve excellent reliabl...

I've read a few positive comments on Tighe cams on oz/nz rolla forums. Anybody ever run a Tighe cam in a sohc staz motor ? Cams can make all the difference in the world. One starquestor measured his performance cam and was unhappy, so he persisted that Schnieder Cams(popular for our 2.6) grind it &q...
