If you want them down use the manual
control under the light first(turn the nod)
they should (all things equil) go down
into the auto reset position.
Be careful doing that as the light may suddenly decide to go down by itself and might take your fingers with it.

Also try unplugging all the wiring harness connectors and drown them in contact cleaner.

If you do need a new alternator, a magna alternator is a much cheaper fix - read this:

Silvia space-savers fit btw - any import wrecker should have heaps of them - I picked up a couple for $10 each a while back.

Probably - the rails won't be the same, but the bolt pattern on the seats probably is.

Across top edge, inside the door jamb, on the front edge behind the grille, couple down the base near the wheel - think that's about it.

Agree - I once bought a Starion that had chopped springs - it was the first thing I replaced. You would not believe how badly it bounced over small bumps etc.

Proper springs are cheap :)

Paint-wise, it was probably around $5-600 - I also bought a decent compressor and spray gun though which added about $900 to that - still a pretty cheap job in the end :) It's not perfect (the paint itself i'm really happy with, but there was some panel prep that I overlooked so there are a few ding...

It depends a bit on how much you're planning to paint - if it's just the exterior, you'll probably need around: 4L of primer/filler (you might only use half of it, but it's pretty cheap) 4L of colour 4L of clear coat 8-10L of gloss thinners (start with 8L and see how you go - it's around $25 for a 4...
