standard air flow sensor in aftermarket airfilter

is it possible to get the air flow sensor (with some mods) to fit into an aftermarket air filter provided the air filter has enough room to fit it? if it were possible to do, would any readings of air flow be affected by it being an open filter now? i know a lot of people have cut the air can to get...

it happend to a starion i was driving.. foolish of me not to check all the indicators.. as the front right globe had blown.. you may simply have a blown globe as in a starion, the sign the car gives you is the indicator stays on.. whereas in most new cars, the side which has a blown indicator globe ...
