DRIFT Starion info thread - Calling all DRIFT Starions

Hi everyone!

I've noticed there's a few of us on here who have the crazy itch to drive our Starions sideways on the track, and recently I've noticed a few more interested in doing this, so I thought I would start a thread that can bring us all together and help share info related to Starions and drifting, and also contain links to any drift related threads for Starions.

Firstly, for those that do track racing, and see drifting as just crazy people doing doughnuts, yes, it is true, it's not quite real 'racing', but it's just so fun I can't help liking driving sideways on every corner of a track!

A famous quote by Keiichi Tsuchiya, famous drift legend in Japan, "I drift not because it is a quicker way around a corner but the most exciting way".

My intention for how this thread should work

I think the best way for this thread to work is for us to post LINKS to any threads we write relating to drifting our Starions. That way the thread will be easier to follow and find info.

SO, if you write a post about your Starion drift setups, or have photos of it at events, or have some good tips, create that post seperately, and then link back to it here, with a brief description of what the post contains.

Also feel free to post a hello message if you have, or are looking at making a drift Starion, or request info / advice etc.

For any photos, etc, I thought I'd start a thread specifically for photos of drift Starions, in the Show and Go section, again so this thread doesn't clog up too much.

Here it is:

DRIFT STARION PHOTOS THREAD:

http://forums.austarion.com/viewtopic.php?p=151746

I'll start this thread with an example of my own post:

Example of post referring to a thread

Here's my drift Starion info - has photos of my drift car, events, info on front end modifications, knuckles, lower control arms, extra steering lock, etc.

http://forums.austarion.com/viewtopic.php?t=14291

For those that don't know how to post a link to a thread, this is how:
- Go to your thread in your browser.
- Select and copy the URL in the URL bar at the top (highlight and press Ctrl-C to copy)
- Then when you're adding your post to this thread here, enter the URL to your thread as per the image below (but paste your thread URL in there instead, press Ctrl-V to paste). Your URL should be between the two URL and /URL sections with square brackets.

Your link should look like this:

GO FOR IT!

So go for it and say hi, add your info, etc. I think it would be great for us Starion drifters to be able to consult eachother and have Starions out there being recognised! Most people don't have a clue what they are. I've been asked "Is that a Cordia?" or "is that some sort of Toyota?" etc.

Plus some day if we're drifting interstate (which I plan on coming to at least Adelaide and Sydney drift days at some stage) then we'll have some people to do tandem Starion drifting with!

Post away...

Oh yeh and I just remembered I also made a [How to] thread.

Here's a link to my How to thread for giving your Starion lots of steering lock to get maximum drift angle:

Good work Hugh! I'm a massive fan of driving sideways. Ask anyone who's ever been in either of my Starions, or my old ex lancer and you'll know I'm no stranger to opposite lock! I'll post up a video of the widey sideways shooting flames soon :)

Sounds good! Yeh, spot on that's why I thought it might be handy to have a thread that helps tie drifting related stuff together. Will be interested to hear how you go, and happy to help. Yeh seems like there's a few who drift Starions, I had the feeling there were more up north than down south haha, but maybe it's just not many in general. I know there's Melb (me), Tasmania (JA83), Adelaide (niss720), Sydney, and I do think there's a few in QLD actually (Redzone included).

Nice!!

And Fugazi, they were some nice drifting links, that's a lot of tyre smoke they're making! Plenty of power there :)
