So your saying the extra 60mm of rubber front & rear, the extra 50mm in diameter of front brake disc, the big rear wing you can run, as a start, is not worth building a late model starion? What does the Sapparo weight? Its got to be close to 1250kg with a driver and a full tank of fuel? The Grou...

I've run in the class before with a 2.6lt powered LA lancer. Good class, strong racing! Still have a number of mates running in the class, all be it in rotary's The biggest thing you need to bear in mind is that you will need to run a 36mm restrictor on the front of the turbo to run the class and ha...

Let me know if you find another or decide to get bellhousings cast........

It would make life a bit easier and generate a bit more space if my rotary mazda and lancer used the same gearboxes.

I think if you do your research properly. All the T56 boxes, up until the current models (which have to newer design T56 installed), are double overdrive gearboxes. 4th is 1:1 and 5th and 6th are overdrives. Crewmans have an extremely tall 1st gear, compaired to other models, and will do the highway...

I am considering that option......... and I understand the rarity of the group a box, as well.

If I can't find one, I will just use a standard starion or scorpion box in the mean time. They've never let us down previously and the car is set up for it.

Greg, I've used Needhams before in the smaller RX5 case and they're rubbish, poorly built and they eat selector forks for breakfast. Plus the 1st where 5th is shifter position confuses a lot of people. The only drama with using any of the mazda gearboxes, bar the turbo boxes, is the inability to han...

Muz, Thanks for the info, Thats what i'm looking for. I understand your quandry.......... I've seen some of the buggerising around Ron Masing had to do to get his GroupA Starion back to scratch for its C of D. Its time consuming and a lot of paperwork. I have an RX7 box behind my 13B PP in another c...

Wantsom......... Point taken, Its just way I operate. It tends to weed out the keyboard jockey's from the guys that have the runs on the board. 20 years in motorsport does that to you.

MrBishi........ Thank you, I will ring him this evening.

Woody..........You have missed the point! I understand I can use a standard RX7 box but once you start put straight cut gears, dog selectors, etc in them it becomes a $11-13K gearbox. I am looking for a particular racing gearbox, not a street car or dyno queen gearbox. FYI....... if your paying more...

Wantsom............ As Ron is a personal friend of mine, I have already had this discussion with him, many moons ago. Yes he has all the quaife drawings, but he only got the stuff needed to repair the box in his car and the guy that did it, said don't come back. P.S. The view from his front verandah...

Already been down that route.......... Getting Hollinger to do anything other than V8 taxi gearboxes is like pulling teeth.

I am led to believe there about 25 of them in Australia, used in both circuit and rally cars.
